Mon 31 Jul 2006  SUMMER LEAGUE
Nottingham Deaf FC 2
Simon Storey (2)
Macsimo 11 0

Monday the 31/07/06 saw Harchester Utd take on Macsimo 11,
A usual occurrence saw many players getting to the ground early to work on there crossing and penalty taking skills, The wind was strong and the cloud cover was looking like rain was on the cards however this did not faze the Harchester boys who are men and relish such an opportunity.

With the team announced and on the whole people agreeing with the selection we set up as Macsimo 11 kicked off. Straight away Harchester were seemingly awake and had the upper hand, Gary Wisdom immediately had an opening of which he had cleverly made some space only to have the ball cleared for a corner. The resulting corner saw some indecisive defending by Macsimo 11 and the ball ran free only to lashed home in the bottom corner by Simon Storey, 1-0 We had started well.

The next 10 minutes was pretty much one way traffic with Ross Hopkins leading the midfield in every attack and some clever long balls from Tank at the back and some intricate one two's with Jim West and Dan Dawson regularly involved.
Slowly Macsimo 11 started to find some rhythm playing from the back, only to be halted by the ever confident Harchester Defence who had been dealing well with a player who would not look out of place in the British 100m relay team. With the brake slowly approaching Harchester remained on top with Barry Haines not really having to make a save and a lot of pressure coming from Harchester down the flanks of which involved the whole midfield. Half time.

The half time team talk From Smithy saw him explain how we were at times loosing our shape and needed to remain disciplined, We had noticed that Macsimo had not liked the heavy challenges the Harchester lads often adhered to from the likes of John Sutton, Ross Hopkins and Tank, More of the same was the general consensus.

We kicked of the second half and again looked to extend the lead as we pressed the opposition hard, Dan Dawson was coming into the game more with Ben young on the opposite flank doing the same. One attack from the right saw a glorious ball across the box from Ben young that was planted on Dan Dawson's head only to see Gary wisdom get in the way and flick it off for a goal kick.

The defence was playing exceptionally well with James Storey doing the basics and Chris Hardstone breaking up attacks. We had a Throw on the left of which we always look dangerous due to our movement, The ball was played towards Ben young who cleverly flicked the ball in the path of Simon Storey who right footed bent the ball into the far post with pin point accuracy.

Lee Squire's soon replaced Chris Hardstone and fitted into his role with ease spreading the ball well, Dan Dawson was replaced by Scott Squires with Gary wisdom moving to the left and Andrew Sutton coming on for Ross Hopkins, All these players fitted into there roles well and the attacks continued with Macsimo clearing dangerous crosses and the goal keeper making some important saves from shots and one on one's, Soon after Simon Storey was replaced by Mark Blair's who was instantly in the thick of it just missing out on a few trough balls that on another day would of been dispatched with ease.

The final whistle was blown and a good performance all round, The defence was exceptional and never looked in doubt and the midfield combined well with attack and always looked dangerous, Again Harchester showed and great team spirit and battled well, Congratulations to most of the Substitutes who in general were exceptional due to the large squad and battle for places, They always encouraged and also helped out with Treatments and ball recovery with a few exceptions.
